*pulls up to the fanfic drive-thru window* uh yeah, i’ll take a fake relationship with a side of mutual pining and thinking the other isn’t interested, thanks

#*bored author’s voice over the tannoy* d’you want fluff with that? (via @amarriageoftrueminds)

#sure and if you can throw in an extra “sharing one bed” trope, that would be great.

How much is it to supersize to smut?

So if you get smut and fluff from a drive thru where do you go for angst and dark?

That you order from the guy in the trenchcoat in the alley.
“You want angst? I got angst”

*sticks my withered goblin paw out from under the bed* psst kid i got ‘they both think the other one is dead for like seven chapters’

Reader: “How much will that be?”

Author: “Just a comment. Please for the love of God leave a comment.”

@alicedragons @itsladykit @queenofbiscuits

I’m definitely trench coat guy. And all of my weekly specials include smut.

28 and 48? 😊

sansy-fresh:

Sure thing 😀

28What is something you wished you’d known before you started posting fanfiction?

Well…I guess that its really easy to be bogged down in thinking you aren’t any good and that you’ll never be as good as other people; and that that line of thinking is absolute horseshit.

48What’s your favourite trope to write?

Oh jeeze, uh…I like a lot lol. Maybe panic attack hurt/comfort? Is that a trope? If it is, that’s my favorite lol

Most hurt/comfort tropes are 👌 I like that one, too. Thank you, Fresh ^^

I think all content creators can relate to this.

In my opinion, I don’t think followers really understand how much your requests/likes/reblogs/etc. and random asks mean to me. It’s just so refreshing and nice to know that people enjoy what I’m doing and support me.

People that go the extra mile and send an ask or message letting me know they liked my stuff honestly makes my day. I love reading tags and stuff…it’s honestly so cute….

And people who ask about how I’m doing or send me random questions or cute asks….I just want you guys to know it honestly makes my day. I just love all the interaction and such. It makes running a blog so much more enjoyable.

And Fanart/Fanwork? Honestly that’s one of the greatest things to receive. To everyone that draws or writes, please don’t feel too insecure to send it end! No one is going to criticize you over quality. It’s so sweet that you even thought about making something…I will always appreciate it no matter what, and I’m sure all other content creators feel the same.

So, in conclusion, don’t be afraid to talk to your favorite blogs and show them some love, guys! We always appreciate it! ☺️

All of this.

sockablock:

I endlessly admire fic authors who have betas and write chapters and chapters ahead of what they post because you best believe my needy ass is slapping just-finished, mildly edited and typo-laden fics onto AO3 the moment they’re done so I can get that sweet sweet validation

Drabbles and one-shots are the side quests, while multi-chapter fics are the main quest. I’m anxiously over-levelling myself because I’m not ready to tackle the next boss on the main quest. 😰

Fanfiction isn’t written for you, it’s shared with you.

BLESS THIS POST

As a fanfiction writer, it’s taken me a long time to come to this realization, and ever since I have, I’ve been so much happier with my views of my work and my self-esteem. The person my fanfiction is written for is ME. When other people enjoy it, that’s wonderful and it makes me happy, but I shouldn’t beat myself up if people don’t. It’s not for them. It’s for me.

YES! Every once in a while, I’ll be like, “Ugh, this is such wish fulfillment garbage for MYSELF, what worthless trash.” And then I’m like, “Wait, no, that’s why I’m writing it.” If other people don’t like it? meh.

also a great reason not to hassle fic writers over not making content to your exact specifications.

I legit wrote on my first fanfic profile that I wrote fic for myself and I just happen to like sharing what I write with randos online

^^^

Yes! I honestly wasn’t planning on posting any of my fics when I started writing for this fandom. I was just writing for myself, because there wasn’t a lot of content based around the characters/pairs I liked.

I am very happy that I decided to share it, because having people tell you they enjoy your work is very uplifting and has definitely motivated me to write more. And it’s always wonderful to hear that you’ve provided people with entertainment.

But at the end of the day, I write for my own enjoyment–which means I write the content I want to read. My personal favourite works of mine are definitely the ones I’ve written out of pure self-indulgence.

but like who started the idea that fanfiction writers are somehow bothered by enthusiasm for their work???? cause i see posts all the time like “do writers really want to talk with us about their fics? Do writers really want long comments? I dont want to bother them” and i just think its absolutely ridiculous????

ofc i want to talk to you about it, and would love to hear you go on about it. i took time out of my real life to write this stuff down so we could all share these characters!!! the idea that you’re bothering a fanfiction writer, a fellow nerd, is absolutely crazy

Personally I attribute at least part of this to the shift of fandom onto Tumblr platform. Because of the way Tumblr works, multiple replies and reactions can get cluttered and overwhelming really fast, so leaving replies and feedback can be awkward. I have actually seen ‘tumblr etiquette’ posts going around scolding people for adding commentary onto posts when they reblog it! Actually discouraging  people from reacting and adding their own words!  If any of this attitude spills over onto fanfic posts and reblogs, no wonder readers are shy about adding their own words to an author’s posts.

Dear fans on tumblr:

WE, THE AUTHORS, REALLY WANT TO HEAR YOUR COMMENTS.
