If I sound excited about that, it’s because I am. Holy crap, guys. That was way more writing than I thought it would be. My final word count is 23,053. And only about 2000 of that was written in advance. For the most part, I started writing on 12/22 and have been trying to keep up ever since. Lol. Okay. So, Gyftmas is actually pretty important for the Fellbros. They don’t make a big deal out of it. A Tale monster would think they were hardly celebrating. They usually get each other one gift, and they don’t decorate. But, that gift is often handmade or scavenged from the dump. Either way, it’s never a lot—extravagance would only make them a target—but it’s something they know the other will like. A lot of time and love (and care) goes into the selection, so there’s significance there. When they discover the Tale verses, they are (secretly) delighted by all the different Gyftmas traditions. They may play it cool, but internally, they’re both like delighted children. And once they get to the surface? Lights! Multiple trees! Presents! Family and friends! Edge particularly likes baking cookies and making candy for Gyftmas trays, not to mention hosting the celebration. Both of them fully embrace the Tale verse traditions.
Razz and Slim stopped celebrating as they get older. Razz is derisive… and Slim longs for what they once had. They only start to get back into the swing of things (slowly) when they reach the surface. Razz is still resistant…but Slim adores Christmas. Because of the music. He’s enthralled by the idea that there is an entire genre of music dedicated to a single holiday. He hums it. He sings, if he thinks no one’s around, and even Razz can’t help but notice his brother’s enthusiasm. He’s slow to adopt the other Gyftmas traditions, but that first time he presents Slim with a present? Gaze downcast and arms fully extended, as if embarrassed by the whole thing? Priceless.
Awww this is adorable! I can see why the Fell bros would value the holiday – especially in such an awful world where they barely get a moment’s happiness.
And oh no, Razz giving his brother a gift? Too much for my heart!

Your art is what got me interested in Cash to begin with, particularly your OT4 art. Being my neurotic self, I have to develop a character’s AU and backstory before I can write for them. And, in trying to figure out who Cash is…I ended up with Twist, for better or for worse. So. The reason I have a Twistfell AU at all is because of you and because I wanted to write some ExpensiveSpicyHoneyDog.
When I say your art is inspiring, it’s because I mean it.

Additionally…I’d like to take a moment to express my gratitude to you guys. I love this fandom. I was terrified of posting my work way back in April. I was not prepared for the support and encouragement I got from all of you. Thank you all. So much. Even if it was just to leave kudos on a fic, or to like or reblog a post, your support is so appreciated.
And, honestly, I don’t consider myself to be very good with words. That is, it’s not easy for me to express my own thoughts and feelings—it’s much easier to express a character’s thoughts and feelings than it is my own. So, for Shipmas…I’ve set aside a few stories for particular people as expressions of gratitude or admiration. (“Gift” is, for some reason, a loaded term, and that’s why I’m avoiding it. But…yes. These are gifts in the truest sense. Expressions of genuine affection, given freely and without obligation or expectation.) Aww Kit! I’m going to be completely honest now – you have been one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to writing for this fandom. When I first read Broken Bones, I was so awed by how incredible your writing was, and it really encouraged me to improve. I still go back to your writing sometimes when I’m struggling to write a particular scene or character interaction, because you just capture and manipulate emotion so well!

…I honestly feel a little silly posting the link here? Since this was the very first Twistfell thing I ever wrote? And it got posted to Tumblr a long time ago? But…I suppose if you missed it?
