Oh oh Ali could I get Honeyketchup in 39 for that ship meme thingie? (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Yes! Thank you for getting me into this ship (damn you).

From this shipping meme.

“Who initiated the relationship? Who kissed who first?  When did they realize they were in love?”

I don’t think either of them would actually have initiated the relationship. I sort of like to imagine that it just… happened. One minute they were friends, joking around with each other, flirting casually, and the next, they were tearing each other’s clothes off. Okay, maybe not quite tearing. I imagine that would take a little too much effort. But it would probably be spontaneous. I don’t think they’d be a very ‘romantic’ couple, in the classic sense of the word. They’d mostly just be friends who kissed and had sex with each other (at least, that’s what they’d tell people).

And as far as ‘realising’ they were in love goes, I don’t think it would be some sudden realisation. I honestly think they would have loved each other long before they became a couple. As for falling in love, I think it would happen slowly. They’d just start slipping subtle little ‘I love you’s into their sentences without noticing. And maybe at some point, they’d be lying there, in each other’s arms, and it would suddenly occur to them, but I don’t think they’d be the type of couple to make a big deal of it.

I really like these two. They’re my favourite “we’re not gay bro. two friends can kiss bro. it’s not gay. just suck my dick bro. it’s what a good friend would do.” couple. They honestly have such a great dynamic because there relationship is very easy and uncomplicated. I can’t see them ever really getting into huge fights or breaking up over trivial things. They’re the ‘Best Friend’ couple, so to speak. (Which is honestly such a healthy thing. I love them.)

1- How do they fall asleep? Wake up? Any daily rituals? 2- How’s their team work? Do they share well? 3- Are they open about their relationship? How do they feel about public displays of affection? 4- First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight?5- Nicknames? Pet names? Any in-jokes?

Thank you for sending in this rarepair!

From this shipping meme.

LONG AF. So it’s under the cut! 🙂

1. I like to think that while Stretch would be the cuddling type, he’d be a little nervous to initiate it with Papyrus (who isn’t quite as cuddly, at first). So they’d probably fall asleep side-by-side (very close to each other, but probably not touching much). By the time they woke up though, they’d be a tangle of bones, all wrapped up in each other’s arms (have I ever mentioned that I have a cuddling kink?)

As for daily rituals, I like to think that Papyrus would make it his mission to bring Stretch breakfast in bed every morning – after all, he’s always the first one awake. After a time though, I think Stretch would try and beat him to it (constantly failing miserably of course). Eventually, they’d reach a compromise and just have breakfast in bed together.

2. As far as sharing goes, I think they’re both pretty selfless. If anything, it would become a battle of who could be the most generous. “No, I had the last slice of cake last time, Lazy Me – you eat it!” “nah, you baked it paps. you should have it. a slice for my slice.” “STRETCH.”

But when it comes to team work, I think they might not work so well together depending on the situation. Papyrus might try to take over because he likes being in control (and Stretch is normally more than happy to let him be), but when it comes to more serious things (i.e. dangerous, possibly life threatening situations) Stretch might get a bit nervous and try to put Papyrus in the backseat (which he HATES).

3. I think they’d be VERY open about their relationship. To the point that it might get annoying for the people around them. Especially in the beginning, Papyrus might be a little inclined to constantly declare things like “HERE IS MY LAZY BOYFRIEND, EVERYONE”. Stretch might be a little more reserved, but he is prone to public displays of affection. Hand holding, light kisses, subtle butt grabs – all very much up his alley. He thinks he’s being inconspicuous, but… he really isn’t. PDAs might embarrass Papyrus a bit at first, but I think he would get used to them slowly, and eventually he might even return them.

4. For Papyrus, I think it was very far from love at first sight. His first impression of Stretch might have been to assume he was just another version of Sans, and he may have been disapproving of his lazy demeanour and general attitude towards putting energy into things. But as he got to know Stretch, he would soon have realised that his “lazy” self actually had a lot of suppressed enthusiasm (just like any Papyrus), and after that, he would make it his absolute mission to try and draw out Stretch’s more passionate side.

As for Stretch, it wasn’t quite ‘love at first sight’, but he definitely came to admire and respect Papyrus very quickly. He may have even revered him slightly in the beginning – a Papyrus with so much energy and life is certainly worthy of adoration. He may have felt a little intimidated however, and kept these thoughts to himself (or at best, made poor attempts at expressing them through bad jokes).

5. One might think that Papyrus’ favourite nickname for Stretch is ‘LAZY ME’ – which it can be (Stretch doesn’t actually mind it so much), but I think he might slowly begin to pick up Blue’s nickname, ‘Papy’. It might become a bit of a pet name, but oddly enough, the thing that really sends chills down Stretch’s spine is when Papyrus literally just calls him Stretch. He seldom does it, and it’s almost like a special treat when he doesn’t use nicknames.

Stretch has a lot of teasing nicknames for Papyrus (sweetheart, sweettart, sugarplum, creampuff), but usually he just calls him Paps. Papyrus is a bit of a mouthful (cough the name), and it takes a while to say if they’re…. busy. (You can put your head back in the gutter now, that was meant to be suggestive.)

When it comes to inside jokes, Papyrus might try to deny that they have them, but he isn’t very good at hiding his smiles or laughter when Stretch brings them up (especially in front of company). And Stretch brings them up a lot (even especially the embarrassing ones). He loves seeing Papyrus blush.

This ship is so adorable. Honestly, any Papcest ship is my thing, but this one is probably one of the sweetest. I can definitely see them bringing out the best in each other.

How in detail do you like Plan out your stories since you’ve mention in previous asks about how you plan them out, write them, and then furiously post until all the readers worry whether or not you take a break. How in detail before you actually write? Or is it intuitive?

To be honest, I usually come up with an idea, draft out a very brief plan, and then just start writing and come back to fix it up later. But I usually don’t start posting until I’ve either completely finished writing the fic, or pretty much written the bulk of it and planned out an ending.

(I’d actually done that for Sixteen Rules, but ended up going wayyyyy off what I’d planned. I think it worked out for the better though.)

But I like to have an entire (or at least, very substantial) draft written up before I start posting, just so I know where I’m going. I’ve found though, that the best chapters I’ve written have been spontaneous. I think it’s good to have a rough draft though, just so that you know where you’re going and to help you familiarise yourself with the characters. But you don’t have to stick to it perfectly (I know I seldom do).

All that being said though, sometimes it can be better to start posting it, and see what the readers enjoy. I’ll be completely honest, I probably have about 100k+ words worth of fanfiction that I’ve just never published. Long, detailed fics that I really wanted to finish writing before posting, because I was worried I’d lose the plot if I started posting too early. But it’s very easy to lose motivation when doing this, because you have no one giving you feedback about your writing, so you’re not sure whether or not people will actually enjoy it when you post it.

Even so, drafting is my lifeline, so I do it very rigorously before I start posting chapters. But normally, I just start writing once I’ve come up with an idea, and see where it takes me. I’m not sure this is the best advice. I often tend to get stumped at certain points or chapters, and I think it might be because I don’t do enough planning beforehand.

I think planning out with themes and character goals in mind can help move the plot along well. All this said, I’m probably not the best person to be giving advice. While I really enjoy writing, I’m still learning how to go about it.

Thank you for sending in this ask though! I’m sorry it got really long ^u^ I like writing out my thoughts like this though, it kind of helps me step back and analyse myself haha.

what do you do when you have a writers’ block for a long period of time, let’s say from 1 to 4 weeks? You just…wait for it to pass or force yourself to write at least a little bit every day, no matter what it takes? Or just hope? Or give up… And what if you think you will never have enough inspiration to finish that particular story? Do you abandon it, or visit it every day to see and hope? Sorry for the sad questions, not feeling too well

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re struggling! I’ve definitely
been in the same place, and while I’m not sure my methods for handling writer’s
block are always the best, I’ll try my best to give some advice!

It depends on how *intense* the block is, but when it comes to
smaller hurdles (for instance, you know exactly what you want to say, the words
just aren’t flowing the way you want them to), I try to take a break. As
begrudged as I am to say it, exercise is a great way to get the blood flowing
to your brain. Even just going for a short walk can help to clear out the
cobwebs. Also (and this may just be me) I like to take naps. That being said, I
probably nap more than the average human, so this might not always work. But if
my brain is tired, it can be very refreshing!

With
all that being said, honestly, the best way to get past a block is just to…
write. Even if it sounds terrible. Even if you hate it. Just do it – you can
always come back to it later and edit vigorously. But sometimes the only thing stopping
you from writing what you want is your mentality. So often, I let myself
think “nah, today isn’t a writing day, I’ll try again tomorrow” when I
could probably just push through and manage something if I tried. So even if you
hate what you’re putting on the page, just writing in itself can get you into
the write mindset.

When it comes to longer blocks (or longer fics that you just no
longer have the motivation for), it’s a bit of a different story.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure my advice is the best, since the only long fic I’ve
struggled with, I ended up putting on a semi-permanent hiatus. But the best
advice I can probably give, is just to keep chipping away at it. Even if you
only write a couple of sentences a day, it can help get your mind back into the
zone. If you’re finding the writing itself a little too daunting, sometimes it
can be good just to write out a few planning sentences (or even random
sentences that don’t fit in anywhere, but you might use later. I do this all
the time). All this being said, if there’s a longer fic you’re really not
feeling the motivation for anymore – don’t force yourself to keep going.
Sometimes it can be best to leave it behind, and start on something fresh. I’m
terrible at stopping myself from rolling with every new idea I come up with,
but a change of pace can be good if you feel like you’re stuck. You can always
come back to your older fic later!

But always remember that breaks are important. Especially when
it comes to longer fics. I myself am not very good at taking breaks. I tend
just to write until I completely burn myself out, but I think I’m improving.

Anyway, this got a bit long, but I hope it was helpful! And I
hope you feel better soon!

(The irony of this, is that I
decided to write a mini essay to answer this ask instead of actually writing my
fic.)

25, Underfell Papyrus

From this ask meme.

“How do they see themselves 5 years from today?”

This is kind of depressing, but I think when living in Underfell, Edge would probably expect to be dead in five years. Maybe he wouldn’t quite voice these thoughts (and perhaps he’d also be clinging onto the small bit of hope that he’d survive) but… yeah. If not that, then I don’t think he’d even consider planning that far ahead. Better just to take each day as it comes.

I think his outlook on the Surface would be a little less dreary though. I really like Kit’s headcanon of Edge being a teacher, so perhaps he’d see himself becoming an increasingly positive influence on the lives of his students.

Outside of work (again, angst warning) I think he’d hope for a better surface existence for monsters. I have a pretty strong headcanon that humans would be completely unaccepting of monsters from the moment they arrived on the Surface. I think Edge would definitely like to change this, although in truth, the idea of battling a brand new enemy after escaping the Underground would probably be a bit daunting to him. I think – while he’d never tolerate the humans’ racism – he’d prefer to settle down and enjoy his life in peace.

ever broken any bones

I’ve been Captain Cautious since I was a baby. I even learnt to walk late because I was too scared of falling over.

I’ve only ever broken my baby toe… if that even counts? It’s a very small bone. If I was a skeleton, I’d be Swap Papyrus. Cautious boi with 1HP. Don’t go outside, it’s too dangerous.

When it comes to ships involving Slim (especially with Kit’s versions of the characters) I honestly really love him with Edge and Honey. Slim with Blueberry is also great, then him with Red is something I’m dying to explore.

Yeah, Kit really does Slim justice! And I also adore any poly Papyrus ship. I haven’t seen much with Red and Slim, but I really love their dynamic. I feel like Red might try to play the Big Bro with Slim, mostly because he slightly sees bits of his own brother in Slim. But I don’t think Slim would really stand for it lol. He’s a lot more independent than he appears. That being said, I love timid Slim, and it would be wonderful to see hurt/comfort involving him and Red.

28, Swapfell Papyrus

From this ask meme.

“Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?”

My initial thought for this was “his brother”, but then I realised I don’t actually know much about Swapfell Sans (Black? I don’t even know what most people call him.)

So, Cash’s brother aside, I feel like he’d get on really well with Blue. (I seem to have a thing for shipping Blue with any Fell version of Papyrus). Although really, I think these two would be better platonically than romantically. I think Cash would find blue’s boundless energy and kindness very entertaining, and perhaps even endearing once they grew closer.

As for his worst enemy, I’m going to have to say Razz. (But I mean, which of the skellies don’t initially despise the short tempered little shit?) Skeletons aside though, Cash would have a deep mistrust of Alphys (assuming Alphys is the Royal Guard captain in this universe…? Again, I really don’t know enough about it to properly answer this question. I think I actually know more about Kit’s Twistfell AU, if anything.)

I think it’s a shame that Swapfell (… Fellswap?)–the purple one–often gets overlooked when it comes to fanfiction. It gets a bit difficult juggling so many AUs, and it’s normally a bit less confusing to stick with just Slim and Razz. I really like Cash though, so I’d definitely consider throwing him into some of my stuff later on!
