“Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?”

I mentioned in an earlier headcanon post about Spicyhoney that Edge loves anniversaries. He loves marking down milestones (particularly relationship ones), and he’ll jump on any opportunity to throw a huge celebration (he loves catering to people).

Unlike Stretch though, Blue actually DOES share Edge’s love of parties. He loves planning and organising and making his friends happy. Unfortunately though, Edge and Blue might clash on some ideas when it comes to planning, as they both like being in control. Still, this doesn’t hinder them (if anything, it makes the celebrations all the more extravagant, with 100 ideas crammed into the event). 

Although, this is mostly only the case for holidays. When it comes to anniversaries, they will extensively plan ahead for the special occasion, but it might be a little more intimate. Blue loves to spoil Edge; be it by lavishing him in attention or showering him in gifts – Blue will go out of his way to make his precious Edgelord happy. Of course, Edge is never one to be outdone, so Blue often finds himself receiving very adequate reciprocation (hmm… one way or another).

“What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions?”

Edge isn’t much for gift giving – but he’s more than happy to receive. (Of course, this does often lead him to wonder if he should be returning Blue’s gestures, but Blue insists he doesn’t mind. Giving Edge presents is one of his kinks.). And naturally, Blue is HUGE on gifts. He’ll find any excuse to buy Edge little presents. Usually, it’ll be something that caters to Edge’s interests and hobbies (Blue won’t admit to it, but he likes furthering the part of Edge’s life that doesn’t involve his job or his universe). So Edge often receives new cooking books or puzzles–and even fantasy novels (which he’ll never admit to liking – “they’re for children, Blue” – but Blue will often find him curled up in a corner with his nose buried in them).

And naturally, every once in a while, Blue will indulge his more risque side and get Edge something they can both enjoy… hehe.

I love this ship so much, and it’s a travesty that I haven’t written more of it. Thank you, Trashy! ❤

3. “Are they open about their relationship? How do they feel about public displays of affection?”

Edge will never admit to it, but he loves being public about their relationship. At first, he’s a little reserved, and will probably hesitate to tell anyone. But when he finally manages to muster up the courage to confess his feelings for Stretch to himself, he is more than eager to let the whole world now.

Stretch is a little more shy. While he’s happy to tease Edge (even especially in public), when it comes to actual romantic gestures (rather than sexual ones), he gets a little flustered (something that Edge relentlessly uses against him). If questioned about their relationship, he’ll probably brush it off with a joke about “boning the edgelord ‘cause he’s hot”, but it’s only his very poor attempt at masking his true obsession with his boyfriend. Once Edge manages to coax a little more confidence out of him, Stretch will go out of his way to display his adoration.

8. “What do they like best about their partner?”

If questioned, both of them would immediately answer “his dick” (or any other genitalia that came to mind in the spur of the moment). Needless to say, they’re both a little pent up, emotionally.

It would take a lot to get Edge to confess to it, but his favourite thing about Stretch is his empathy, and his ability to understand Edge. At first, Edge took Stretch for a completely selfish asshole (and he wasn’t reserved when it came to letting everyone know as much). And truthfully, Stretch wouldn’t deny it. But as they became accustomed to each other’s company, Edge started to notice the way Stretch would subtly check up on him (usually parading under the guise of ‘just messing around’ or ‘teasing’). But Stretch would quickly pick up on any signals that Edge was uncomfortable or upset. And once he figured out what was going on behind Edge’s sturdy mask of composure, he’d be tripping over his own feet trying to get him to feel better, and Edge secretly loves it.

While Stretch truthfully does love the physical aspects of their relationship, one of his favourite things is hearing Edge laugh. Because Edge seldom laughs when he’s upset or angry, so hearing him laugh lets Stretch know that he’s doing alright. And Stretch is ruthless when it comes to getting Edge to laugh. He is not above tickling. And Edge of course, just as stubborn as Stretch is, will do everything in his power to stop himself from laughing. But when he does, it’s sweet music to Stretch’s ears.

11. “Do they celebrate holidays? Anniversaries?”

I have pretty much the same headcanons for Edge in any relationship (so there may be some repeats of this in later HCs for this shipping meme), but Edge loves celebrating anniversaries and holidays. He’ll go to extra lengths to ensure he and Stretch make the most of the day (particularly when it comes to anniversaries; his affection is unrelenting). A huge part of this habit of his comes from his desire to celebrate each milestone, out of his fear that the relationship could suddenly end. Living in Underfell has created this paranoia; a fear that his happiness won’t last, so he feels the need to make the most of every moment, especially the big ones. He feels that it’s important to keep track of how long his happiness has lasted.

Unfortunately for Edge, Stretch hates parties. If Edge wants a huge celebration, he can be sure Stretch won’t be there for it. So the compromise they’ve reached is to spend the holidays alone (or with family). Edge will still go completely overboard trying to cater to everyone, but for Stretch’s sake, he’ll keep the guest list (and extravaganzas) to a minimum. As for their anniversaries, Edge enjoys doting on Stretch in any way he can. He’ll take him out on dates, cook for him, and of course–fuck him on every surface he can find (a tendency Stretch is more than happy to indulge).

12. “Is there a wedding? What was the proposal like? Any kind of honeymoon?”

Hnnnghh yes! I did write a short fic of their proposal a while ago – in which they both proposed simultaneously (with rings of varying quality). As far as the wedding goes, it would be small. Definitely. Neither of them would be very eager to have a large audience for something so intimate. But this doesn’t mean Edge’s desire to cater would be extinguished. He would put all his energy into making everything *perfect* for his groom-to-be. He would spend hours picking out the colours, the cake, the clothes. And Stretch would probably let him, if not just out of his own desire to see Edge fussing over him. The location would probably be somewhere secluded, but out in the open (particularly if they were on the surface). And during the day. Edge loves the sunlight, and he’d give anything for the opportunity to kiss Stretch as the sun sets behind them (though he’d never admit to wanting something so sappy and romantic. God no.)

As for the honeymoon… well. As much as I love cute kisses and cuddles between these two, I am unashamed to admit that seeing them unable to keep their hands off each other is a huge fetish of mine. It would be hot. Unforgivingly hot. That’s not to say that Edge wouldn’t still use the opportunity to indulge in spending an unreasonable amount of money on a (very private) location and other extravagant “necessities” as he’d call them. He’d probably have an entire itinerary planned out. But Stretch would likely find ways to distract him from it (partially out of his own reluctance to leave the comfortable bed). And Edge wouldn’t be entirely opposed to being distracted (though he might scold Stretch for it later).

17. “What would make them break up? Would it be permanent?”

Dang, from marriage straight to break ups. Sort of answered here. It mostly involves disagreements over personal interests and goals. And no, it would not be permanent. (They were made for each other, okay? Fight me.)

26. “How do their friends feel about their relationship? Their families?”

At first, I think their friends and families might be a little astounded by their relationship. In particular, the Fell verse monsters might see it as a purely physical thing (the concept of love is a little lost on them sometimes). And with this in mind, Red would probably be very skeptical. He might feel the need to give Stretch a long talking to, knowing very well how difficult it is for his brother to open up about his emotions.

Blue on the other hand, would be delighted by Edge and Stretch’s relationship. He is very fond of Edge, and no doubt he’d be overjoyed to see his brother taking care of the Fell monster. In addition, Blue is well aware of Stretch’s own emotional difficulties, and he has complete confidence in Edge’s ability to bring happiness to his brother.

33. “What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions?”

Neither of them are really the gift-giving type. While Edge might occasionally try and spoil Stretch, it quickly becomes clear that material goods aren’t really the way to Stretch’s heart (or rather, his soul. or into his pants). In truth, the gifts they mostly tend to give each other are either gestural, or… physical. Perhaps the only “material” gifts Edge might give Stretch are things involving food. Stretch isn’t really a good cook though, so he tends to find his own creative ways to repay Edge (yes, you all know what I’m implying).

39. “Who initiated the relationship? Who kissed who first?  When did they realize they were in love?”

As far as the ‘initiating the relationship’ part goes, I sort of like the way I developed it in Sixteen Rules. I think Edge would be too in denial to build up the courage to make the first move, so Stretch would do it… in his own way. They would pretend that it was purely a physical relationship at first, and nothing more, but the conviction behind their arrangement would quickly dissolve and they’d be left to confess their true feelings.

I think Edge would be the one to initiate the first kiss. Stretch might lure him into it (probably thinking Edge wouldn’t actually go for it), and Edge might kiss him just to shut him up. But after the first kiss, it wouldn’t take much for them to plummet into a spiral of a million kisses. Neither of them are very good at exercising restraint around each other.

It would take a long time for them to realise they were in love. And there would probably be a lot of denial involved. I imagine one of them would accidentally blurt it out during an argument, or during sex or something, but it wouldn’t be planned and it wouldn’t be intentional. I kind of like to think that Stretch would be the first to cave and admit it, and he would undoubtedly try to backpedal and play it off as a joke. (Edge would not stand for it though, and his confession would come shortly after).

45. “Any special dreams or goals they have as a couple? Any heartbreaks? Regrets?”

18. “What are their dates like? How long do/did they date? Do they ever feel the need to take a break from each other?”

I think at first, their dates would be a little awkward (at least, that’s how Razz might perceive them). While Razz is normally very outspoken, he feels slightly intimidated by Sans, and isn’t quite sure how to hold a proper conversation with him. Sans is okay with silence, but Razz feels the need to fill it, so he might blurt out a lot of (possibly personal) things without meaning to. Razz would also make it his mission to treat Sans to the epitome of extravagance (partially as a means of showing off, partially because he doesn’t want to disappoint Sans). But when Sans picks the date, they normally end up cuddling on the couch and watching TV (which Razz pretends to hate, but doesn’t obviously).

I can see Razz and Sans’ relationship going two ways. One: they last a lifetime. Their dynamic just works, and despite their differences, they seldom fight about petty things (mostly because Sans is very patient, and doesn’t mind if Razz needs to vent to him every once in a while). Or two: Razz gets scared when he realises he might actually be falling for Sans and breaks up with him out of panic. If this were the case though, I don’t think the breakup would last very long.

A sadder version of this may involve a Razz who is a little less tolerable, and a Sans who is a little less forgiving. Perhaps Razz makes one too many offhand comments about Sans’ brother, or perhaps Sans just loses his patience with him a little too often, and they end up splitting permanently. (But as far as my headcanons for these two go, I don’t think this is likely to happen).

23. “How do they hug? Kiss? Tease? Flirt? Comfort?”

Initially, I don’t think Razz would be at all tolerant of any forms of physical contact. But Sans can be very manipulative if he wants to, and I think an unending tirade of flirting and teasing would be enough to break Razz down. When it comes to flirting, Sans is a lot subtler than Razz is. He might mask a compliment with a joke, or ‘accidentally’ brush Razz’s arm or fingertips on occasion. Razz is far less reserved, and once he catches on to Sans’ ‘game’, he’ll gladly reciprocate, sweet-talking (or at least, attempting to sweet-talk) Sans into oblivion. And his flirting is a little more crude.

As for hugging, I think Razz is a little averse to public displays of affection. So in the company of others, hugging is all but off-limits. Maybe a quick one-armed hug, but nothing more. In private though (and especially when they start sleeping in the same bed), Sans notices small changes. Hugs aren’t really Razz’s thing, and Sans respects this, but when they fall asleep, Sans often wakes up with Razz’s arms wrapped around him.

Kissing is a little strange for them at first. Sans likes kissing slowly. He likes to savour it, to make his partner gradually fall apart beneath him, to tease them. But Razz likes to give it his all. He doesn’t hold back, and often tries to dominate his partner, even during light kissing. So initially, it’s a bit of a battle. But as time goes on, they find a pleasant balance. Sans will let Razz think he’s in control, until the last minute when he finds himself moaning beneath Sans’ subtle touches. And Sans will do anything he can to make Razz blush.

Comfort is a bit difficult for these two. Neither of them are prone to opening up about their feelings, and neither of them are overly pushy when it comes to getting a partner or friend to open up. So a lot of tension between them goes unspoken. 

But sometimes – more often when the hurt is physical – they will completely dote on each other. If Sans sees that Razz is injured, he might ask what caused it. And if Razz brushes him off, Sans won’t interrogate him, but he might sit quietly with him, or do something simple for him, such as making him a cup of tea. Razz is a little less inclined towards making simple gestures, so instead, he’ll be blunt. He’ll make a vague attempt at appearing not to care, but he isn’t very good at hiding his concern. He might try to spoil Sans a bit, taking him out on a date, or making him his favourite dish. His favourite method of comfort though – sex. And it has about a 99% success rate.

Warning: once again, I don’t know how to stop talking.

“How do they handle disasters or emergencies? Minor injuries? Sickness?”

I’m going to start with sickness and work my way up to disasters and emergencies hehe.

So, if one of them gets sick (nothing serious, just feverish or what have you), you can be sure the other will not leave their side for DAYS (even if the illness doesn’t last days). If Edge gets sick, Rus tends to get a little overly cuddly (which often results in both of them being sick at the same time). He brings Edge thousands of blankets and wraps him up tight, then snuggles up with him until he falls asleep (whether Edge likes it or not).

When Rus gets sick, Edge sort of freaks out, regardless of how serious it is. He shops for every sort of medicine he can find to help Rus get better, he makes gallons of chicken soup and lemongrass tea, and he probably ends up spending far too much time on his feet, rushing around, instead of actually sitting with Rus and comforting him (not that Rus minds so much. He finds Edge’s devotion a little endearing (and amusing)). At the end of the day, Edge probably exhausts himself to the point where he’s forced to snuggle up with Rus (much to Rus’ delight).

If Edge gets a minor injury, Rus might question him about it, but it isn’t uncommon for Edge to pick up a few bumps and bruises on a daily basis, given his job and lifestyle.

But if Rus gets a minor injury, Edge will interrogate him for HOURS if he has to until he finds out “WHO IS RESPONSIBLE”. 99% of the time though, it’s just because Rus was clumsy or something silly, but given his low HP, Edge will go above and beyond to make sure the injury is tended to. Needless to say, he’s a little overprotective.

When it comes to disasters and emergencies (e.g. the house is alight, one of them is being rushed to hospital, etc.) Edge is the panicky one, and Rus is the calm slightly less panicky one.

While one might think Edge would be calm (having grown accustomed to disasters and whatnot throughout his life), he actually finds it more difficult to keep a level head when it comes to Rus. Especially deep into their relationship, Edge is VERY emotionally vulnerable. Rus is the first person he’s truly opened himself up to, and losing him would probably destroy Edge.

While Rus is a little more restrained than Edge is when it comes to disasters, he does also have a very protective streak. He mostly trusts Edge to take care of himself, but he also knows how reckless his idiot boyfriend can be. So depending on the situation, he might panic a little more if there is room for Edge to act the hero (because he knows Edge will do it).

“Any special dreams or goals they have as a couple? Any heartbreaks? Regrets?”

Okay, so I’m not normally big on headcanons involving children and the like, but you asked for angst, and this was just too good to pass up.

So. Special dreams.

When they reach the Surface, Edge quickly becomes comfortable with life. He settles into his new job, perhaps buys an apartment or house with Rus, and soon grows accustomed to feeling safe. And once he’s achieved this sense of security, his mind starts to wander to the possibility of children. Without having to look over his shoulder constantly, he grows very fond of the idea of having a little babybones or two running around the house.

Unfortunately, Rus just doesn’t share this dream. Children have never been on his agenda, and he simply has no desire to procreate (or even adopt, for that matter). It would take a lot to get him to admit to it, but Rus just doesn’t think he’s fit to be a parent. He was never very good at looking after his brother growing up (or at least, he doesn’t think he was), and he doesn’t like the idea of passing on his “weak” genes (including, but not limited to, his myriad of mental problems).

Naturally, this leads to tension in Rus and Edge’s relationship. While Edge isn’t completely uncompromising about having children, the idea really appeals to him, and he can’t fathom Rus’ aversion to them. They might even fight to the point that they break up, but no doubt it would only be temporary. Once they’ve been apart for more than a week or two, they would quickly come to the realisation that they hate being apart.

As far as regrets go, I think Rus would eventually cave to the concept of children, but he would never be completely adept at parenting. He would definitely try his very best, but given his lack of HP and general motivation for a lot of things, I think it would take its toll on him. He could never resent Edge for it, but it would certainly put a strain on their relationship.

And as for Edge, I think Rus’ weariness would rub off on him. While he would love his children to his dying breath, Rus’ lack of true devotion to them would really get to Edge. It would sort of be like an empty happiness for him. He would look before him, and see everything he wanted, yet it would feel incomplete. Because at the end of the day, he would know that the decision to have children was sort of taken away from Rus (and he would blame himself for it, regardless of whether it was his fault or not).

I swear, this could have gotten a LOT angstier, but I decided to be merciful (for a change).

(I have some EXTREMELY angsty headcanons when it comes to actual pregnancy with these two, but I’ll probably save those for later when I’m emotionally prepared to write them.)

Bourbon, don’t be an angst enabler. I already enjoy hurting these two a little too much. I may have had too much fun writing this.
