For years, you served as a faithful Main Character. Your Author rewarded you by maiming you and forcing you to marry a woman you never cared for. Then he cursed you with children you never wanted, took away everything you ever loved, and quietly destroyed you while your children replaced you, all to thunderous applause. Now, after all this time, you have come face-to-face with your Author, ready to demand an explanation

@alicedragons …I’m starting to think we owe our characters a self-insert fic where they just destroy us in retribution.

@itsladykit I mean… I won’t deny that we deserve it. But I’d be a little too afraid for my life.

Have you ever thought about diseases not being universal constants? Like a cold-like illness in Underswap becoming an epidemic in Underfell

Okay. I love this idea. It is a fantastic idea that makes a wonderful amount of sense, and I love headcanons that have a basis in logic.

However. I will never be able to write for this idea. It runs straight into the two types of angst that give me the most trouble: character death and severe illness. Anything that a character can’t fight or be rescued from, anything that by its nature can only be logically met with passive acceptance is anathema for me. It feels too much like giving up, and it feels too much like there’s no hope.

So. @crushingonsans, @ollie-oxen-free, @alicedragons, @cheapbourbon? You guys are all much better with this kind of angst than I am. Consider this a plot bunny, if you’re in need of one.

Oh no, don’t tempt me like this. I can definitely see this being an almost apocalyptic sort of fic. And I almost like the idea of one of the Tale universes being susceptible to the disease, and sort of devolving into a world of savagery.

Great. Let me just add this idea to my enormous stack of WIPs. Thank you.
