3 weeks ago just before I took a hiatus from the comic I was in a massive art slump. You guys probably remember me complaining that I had a ton of ideas but couldn’t get anything down apart from thumbnails (which I showed you guys)
One thing I wanted to draw was Stretch after getting really into @tyranttortoise‘s fic SSLL. However, because I still feel endlessly guilty regarding AU content I didn’t want to draw anything of the characters because I’m still completely under the assumption that you guys will just absolutely hate and resent me if I show even the smallest passing interest in something that isn’t canon 😦 (that’s not an admonishment of you guys btw. That’s really how I feel).
But since I was really struggling with an artblock, @jolie-in-the-underground said I should just draw this dude, get it out of my system, and move on to the canon stuff I have lined up. So I took her instructions as the “permission” I needed to draw something not-canon.
However, despite starting the picture, the artblock still hit me hard and the stress just really crippled my ability to draw at all. So it sat on my desktop for almost a month now. And of course the more time went on, the worse I felt for wanting to draw and post something not canon. (this really is a big deal to me, guys… I know its dumb.)
Today however… I dunno. I think I wanted something to colour without putting in the effort of actually drawing it first. And since the WIP was right there, I picked it up again and finished it. Using the opportunity to try some colouring things and playing with some other brushes I’m not familiar with. (like how the heck do you draw a waterfall? and what is secondary lighting? etc etc)
Nevertheless, as much as I really REALLY like the end result… I am supremely nervous and self conscious about posting it. Especially since no, I still don’t actually like AUs…. I just really like Ty’s fanfic and how she writes the characters. Heck as far as I’m concerned they might as well be HER characters (apart from the canon ones).
But I gathered my courage and decided to post it anyway. Only because I do like the end the end result. So think of this as fanart for Ty as encouraged by Jolie. Because really, that’s what it actually is more than anything. (Even though the fic doesn’t take place Underground or near Waterfall but ssshhhhh)
And now with that done, I can move on to the myriad of canon-focused art I have lined up I want to do.

This is absolutely stunning, I love the detail of the reflected blue light on the back of his clothes as well as his stance, expression and the colours you used to bring the piece to life.
Personally, I don’t think you should feel bad about wanting to post AU content since this is your blog and your ideas, I won’t get annoyed and I’ll support you 100% ♥︎ stay amazing ♥︎♥︎♥︎
