I do like this actually, and not just as a Sans-bashing thing. Sans only actually does the eye thing a few times during his fight. The main example being him forcing you back into the center of the box… Which might mean he’s teleporting you and you alone from a distance, which is probably a lot more of a strain on his abilities than just teleporting himself.
So yeah, I can definitely see that happening. Plus, I’m in the camp that likes to think he was working pretty hard during the fight and giving it his absolute all. He may have wanted it to look effortless, but it definitely was not.

And, yeah, I agree–I think Sans was giving it his all in the last fight. Trying his hardest. Probably knowing he was going to fail. Knowing he was going to die. Fighting anyway, because he had finally reached the point where he couldn’t stand by and just watch.
That’s far more interesting to me than just, “Huh. Unexpected badass. Cool.”

Yes, so much this. It’s also important to remember that Sans can only fight so effectively at all because 1) he’s good at dodging, and 2) your own evil nature at that point causes a poison effect making his attacks stronger than their usual 1 damage, and finally 3) he fights dirty like a thieving back alley whore, breaking his own patterns to trip you up, attacking you between turns, the dodging, and so on.
Seriously.
He isn’t badass, he’s a dirty cheater who throws all he has and is into one last flailing effort to prevent the apocalypse from happening.

Unpopular Opinion: Sans’s glowing eye is just a manifestation on how untrained he is on some attacks. It’s like the sweat and panting you get after overworking yourself. My sister often gets double vision after too much effort which makes her look weirdly at others. It would also explain why while doing attacks that are remarquably similar and stating his (non visible ) tiredness, Papyrus doesn’t have that eye: He is used to that kind of work and activity thanks to Undyne.
